The workspace is free to start and stays usable indefinitely. Research is priced separately, per brief. Prices are in USD, payable by card or by invoice.

Pricing follows how much Kofa you use: how much you keep in the library, how much you ask, and how many people need access. It does not vary by industry. The workflow is the same for one person, one team or one organisation, and each plan includes everything in the one before it.

Before you commit
Every organisation can ask for these, at any tier, before deciding anything — none of it depends on which plan you choose.
- Data residency. Belgium by default, with the UK and South Africa offered as region selection ships — and any request to move existing data met at no cost.
- Data processing agreement. Mapped to the GDPR where your own obligations require it, or to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 by default. Typically executed within five business days.
- Security questionnaire. A completed response to your own due diligence questionnaire, or a standard set such as CAIQ or SIG Lite.

Two ways to pay: the workspace and the research.
The workspace: a subscription for how much Kofa you use. Free until you outgrow the basics, then Pro, Teams or Organisation.
The engagement: research is priced per brief. Bring your own practitioner and you decide how they’re compensated; Kofa charges no platform fee when you pay them directly. Ask Kofa to source and verify the practitioner instead, and Kofa prices the engagement for you.
The two are billed separately: your plan never changes what an engagement costs, and engagement fees are not part of the subscription.

How organisations pay.
If your organisation needs an invoice or a purchase order before it can pay anyone, asking for one doesn’t change the price.

Pay monthly or annually by card, or ask us to invoice you instead.
Annual, with purchase orders
Annual and multi-year terms, invoiced up front. We accept purchase orders and bank transfer for Teams and Organisation.
Credit terms in writing
Engagement fees are due at brief submission unless a credit agreement is in place with Kofa in writing — as our terms already provide.
A tax-compliant invoice
Invoiced accounts get an invoice carrying your entity details, with VAT or withholding tax applied as applicable. Prices exclude applicable taxes.
Your currency, by agreement
Plans and engagement quotes are priced in USD. For annual invoiced accounts, settlement in another currency can be agreed in writing.
Signed at entity level
Terms signed by your organisation rather than an individual — annual or multi-year, with a named contact on both sides.
Research is quoted per brief, with a written guarantee.
Every engagement is quoted before it starts, and the proposal shows where the money goes. If the practitioner doesn’t match the experience profile in your brief — as you determine within 48 hours of delivery — Kofa runs a replacement engagement at no additional cost. The guarantee covers whether the right practitioner was chosen; it doesn’t cover disagreement with what they said. The full terms are in section VI.

Is Kofa really free?
Yes — the Free plan has no subscription and no card required, and it stays usable indefinitely: if you outgrow the active-record limit you archive older records rather than pay, and they return when you move up. Bring your own practitioner and Kofa charges no platform fee when you compensate them directly: they volunteer, or you pay them yourself. The usual engagement fees apply only where you ask Kofa to source or verify the practitioner, or to handle their payment.
What does it cost when Kofa finds the people?
When Kofa matches practitioners from its network, the engagement is quoted per brief, with the price broken down in the proposal before you pay.
Do I pay for the workspace and the engagements?
The workspace plan covers how much Kofa you use — the library, Ask Kofa, knowledge currency, and (on Teams and above) your people. Research is always separate: bring your own practitioner and you decide how they are compensated. When you ask Kofa to find the people, it’s quoted per brief with a full breakdown.
Why would I move to Pro?
When your knowledge becomes part of your work: more active engagements, a larger library, full Ask Kofa with the evidence trail, currency monitoring and refresh workflows. It’s driven by how much you use Kofa — not by which industry you work in.
What currency are prices in?
Workspace plans and seeker-side engagement quotes are priced in USD, and payable in USD by card or by invoice. For annual invoiced accounts, settlement in another currency can be agreed with Kofa in writing.
How do we pay, and can we be invoiced?
Pay by card monthly or annually, or ask to be invoiced. Teams and Organisation support annual invoicing, purchase orders and bank transfer. For an engagement, fees are due at brief submission unless a credit agreement is in place in writing — ask us if you need to be invoiced against a purchase order.
Monthly or annual?
Both. Annual is priced at ten months — $290 for Pro and $990 for Teams — and is invoiced up front. Monthly is card-only and can be cancelled at any time.
Are prices inclusive of tax?
No — prices exclude VAT, withholding tax or equivalent taxes where they apply. Invoiced accounts receive an invoice carrying their entity details, so your finance team can process it.
How do we cancel or downgrade?
Cancel at any time — access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing is charged after that. Downgrading applies the limits of the lower plan to new activity only. Either way your decision assets stay yours: every record remains accessible, and cancelling doesn’t delete what you have already captured.
What happens if we go past a limit?
Nothing breaks and nothing is deleted. When you reach a limit you are prompted to move up — or, on Free, you can archive records you no longer need: they stop counting toward the limit, stay in your library, and return to active when you move up a plan. Nothing you have stored is ever removed to free capacity.
Is policy monitoring included in a plan?
Yes — watching gazettes, circulars and reform signals comes with any paid plan. It is part of the workspace; there is no separate subscription or add-on.
What if the first practitioner isn’t the right fit?
If the practitioner does not match the experience profile set out in your brief — as you determine within 48 hours of delivery of the decision asset — Kofa sources and runs a replacement engagement at no additional cost. The guarantee covers whether the right practitioner was chosen; it does not cover disagreement with what they said, provided they had the experience the brief required. See section VI of our terms.
